Rules of Etiquette Everyone Should Know (and Follow!)


  • Use of any unauthorized mood altering substance.
  • Assault
  • Threatening staff or patients
  • Disturbing the peace
  • Fighting (including both initiating and provoking fights)
  • Misusing passes or misusing visiting hours
  • Non-compliance with treatment (e.g. missing groups, individual session and other structured activity)
  • Gambling
  • Selling/exchanging or bartering goods
  • Smoking violations (smoking during non-designated times/area)
  • Being in unauthorized places in the building
  • Visiting patients in their rooms
  • Possession of any illegal substances or paraphernalia
  • Excessive profanity or excessive arguing
  • Eating and drinking in prohibited areas
  • Possessing unauthorized videos/audio tapes or publications
  • Misusing the phone
  • Mishandling equipment appliances, thermostats, or machinery
  • Untidy bed or rooms
  • Poor Hygiene/grooming
  • Fraternizing
  • Borrowing or giving out medications
  • Engaging in any sexual activity or sexual harassment
  • Any other activity that jeopardizes the safety and security of the program
